A MESSAGE REGARDING THE RECOGNITION OF THE REINCARNATION OF H.E. BAIRO RINPOCHE

Dear Dharma friends, the Buddhist community, and the general public,

In a spirit of harmony and deep devotion, Drukpa Vietnam deeply cherishes the profound respect that the public—from Vietnam and Bhutan to the international community—has dedicated to our lineage and His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa.

Recently, we have observed some well-intentioned yet inaccurate information circulating on social media, suggesting that the “Young Vairochana” currently residing in the beautiful country of Bhutan is the reincarnation of H.E. Bairo Rinpoche—the beloved father of His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa.

With the genuine desire to preserve the purity of our lineage’s history and to provide the public with the most accurate understanding, Drukpa Vietnam would like to share the following clarifications:

1. Regarding the Historical Timeline and the Principle of Reincarnation

As the community is aware, H.E. Bairo Rinpoche entered Parinirvana in 2017. Meanwhile, the young Vairochana in Bhutan was born in 2013. According to the traditions and principles of reincarnation in Vajrayana Buddhism, an incarnation manifests only after their predecessor has passed away. Due to this historical discrepancy, recognizing the young Rinpoche in Bhutan as the reincarnation of H.E. Bairo Rinpoche is a factual misunderstanding.

Furthermore, as Drukpa Vietnam has previously shared on our official platforms, the authentic reincarnation of H.E. Bairo Rinpoche currently resides in Tibet.

2. The Compassionate Guidance from His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa

Upon being informed of this misunderstanding, His Holiness offered very caring and compassionate guidance to His students. He profoundly emphasized the importance of always walking the path of Truth.

His Holiness wishes that His disciples refrain from further spreading this misconception. He also gently reminds the community to maintain a pure mind and not allow inaccurate information to foster unnecessary worldly or political speculations. His sole aspiration for the entire community is purity, harmony, and diligent spiritual practice.

Drukpa Vietnam expresses our deepest gratitude for the unwavering faith of the community. Let us together practice the teachings of His Holiness: using wisdom to perceive the truth, and applying compassion in all our connections.
